The UK is set for its first snow of late 2024 as an 'Arctic blast' sends temperatures below zero
The Met Office has forecasted the first snowfall of late 2024, warning that an 'Arctic blast' could cause temperatures to drop below zero in parts of the UK.
As we see the first snowfall of this half of 2024, the agency has warned that temperatures could fall to zero or even lower. A spokesperson for the Met Office explained that the approaching cold front will create the perfect conditions for snowfall in the UK, particularly over Scotland.They stated: "A cold front sweeping south will introduce Arctic air to the UK, resulting in below average temperatures nationwide this week.", reports the Manchester Evening News.
The Met Office further noted that temperatures are expected to easily drop to zero and below later this week, with the mercury first hitting 0C on Wednesday . Meanwhile, forecasters predict that the lowest temperatures in Wales will be 3C.
