UK weather maps have turned dark purple suggesting snow for some areas this weekend
According to the maps from WXCharts, large areas of the UK will be blanketed in snow between Saturday and Monday. Heavy snow is predicted to fall in parts of Scotland, such as Inverness and Glasgow, which can expect 3cm of snow by 9pm on Saturday, reports The Mirror.
The Met Office reports the rain will begin to clear on Sunday, with more showers expected through the day. Milder temperatures are also expected over the weekend than previously seen this week, according to The Express. "Next, a large Atlantic low pressure begins to edge towards the UK at the weekend. This will bring more widespread rain, heading north-eastwards through Saturday along with milder air. It clears to a cooler Sunday with bright spells but plenty of showers from the west."
As for the weather over a longer period between March 19 and March 28, the Met Office said: "A continuation of the changeable but generally mild conditions looks likely but with a tendency for any rain to be heaviest in western, especially northwestern areas while parts of the south and southeast are likely to see longer, drier interludes.
