Europapress.es, a local news outlet, reports that "all the western islands" are under a 'state of alert for fires', encompassing destinations popular among Brits such as Tenerife, La Gomera, El Hierro, La Palma and Gran Canaria, with specific warnings for "high areas and summits". On a recent social media post, The Canary Islands government's Security and Emergencies department issued a reminder: "Remember risk alert in Western Islands and Gran Canaria. Never camp outside the authorised areas. In the mountains, respect the limitations established by town councils and councils. Don't forget it. At the first sign of fire, call 112.
In addition to high temperatures, strong winds are anticipated, especially in coastal regions. Yellow warnings for 'strong gusts' of between 50-70km/h have been issued for Tuesday in Tenerife, Gran Canaria, La Palma El Hierro and La Gomera, reports the Manchester Evening News.
