A cold blast has been given out in the coming days
Brits are preparing for a massive Arctic blast due to hit on New Year's Day, with several cities targeted for snow and temperatures as low as -4C. Weather maps from WXCharts, using Met Desk data, show a large cold air mass moving over the country as we enter 2025, with maps turning purple to indicate the arrival of snow in various cities.
Most of Wales and Northern Ireland are expected to be caught in the snow storm. In areas where the snowfall is most intense, it could fall at a rate of around 5cm per hour. Accompanying the snow will be falling temperatures, with the minimum average temperature predicted to be -1C across the UK. Areas between Aberdeen and Inverness in Scotland will experience the worst of the blast with lows of -4C recorded on New Year's Day, reports the Mirror.
