Snow and ice expected in parts of UK
BBC NewsA Met Office yellow warning is in force for much of northern and eastern Scotland, as well as north-east England and North Yorkshire, throughout Monday.
Met Office meteorologist Craig Snell said that, in Scotland, cold winds could make it feel like "some of the coldest weather we've had since the beginning of December". There was "slight chance" that rural communities could be cut off, it said, adding that cuts to power and phone services were possible., "frequent" snow showers are expected in the same region - with the warning area extended to Strathclyde, more of Yorkshire and the Humber, and the East Midlands.
