New weather warnings for ice, snow, and flooding have been issued for various parts of the UK. A three-day snow alert is in effect for the weekend, with significant snowfall expected in northern England, Wales, and the Midlands. Additionally, flood warnings are in place across Scotland, the North of England, and the Midlands.

New weather warnings for ice have been issued for parts of the UK - and comes ahead of a three-day snow alert for this weekend. The warning for ice is in place from 5pm today until 10am on Friday, and covers north west England, parts of Scotland and Northern Ireland. A second warning for snow and ice is in place from 4pm today and covers north east Scotland. Meanwhile, a yellow warning for snow is due to come into force at midday on Saturday and will last until 9am on Monday.

It covers all regions of England apart from the South West. Northern Ireland and some of west and north Scotland are also not affected. The warning comes as a major incident was declared in Greater Manchester by police on Wednesday after flooding forced homes to be evacuated and closed train lines and roads following heavy rain. Flood alerts Flood warnings from rivers are in place on Thursday for the North of England and the Midlands while coastal flooding was described as 'possible but not expected' by the Met Office in south and east coasts. Four flood alerts are still in place in the Tayside, Central and Easter Ross and Great Glen as well as the Findhorn, Nairn, Moray and Speyside areas of Scotland. One of the more severe flood warnings remained for Ness-side area of Inverness. Wales has seven flood alerts still in force from New Year's Eve mostly in the north. Properties along the river Dee, river Glaslyn, river Dwyryd, lake Vyrnwy, river Tanat, river Cain and river Severn are covered under the alerts. Temperatures are expected to fall with some northern parts seeing the mercury fall as low as -10C (14F). About 5cm of snow is expected widely across the Midlands, Wales and northern England this weekend, with as much as 20-30cm (8-12ins) over high ground in Wales and/or the Pennines, according to the Met Offic
