Russian authorities have confirmed that they have recovered 'black box' flight recorders from the crash site of a plane reportedly carrying Yevgeny Prigozhin. Elsewhere, another Ukrainian drone was downed on its approach to the Russian capital of Moscow, the mayor of the city has claimed.

Ukraine appears to be continuing its recent spate of drone attacks on Russian soil, as another unmanned aerial vehicle was downed over the border region of Belgorod, the Russian ministry of defence has clamed.

"Russia’s doctrine suggests that it will attempt to regain the initiative by pivoting back to an operational level offensive," it said in its daily update. That area will likely see Russian attacks ramp up as Moscow begins to pay it more attention over the next two months, the MoD said,"probably with the objective of advancing west to the Oskil River and creating a buffer zone around Luhansk Oblast".

The Kremlin also denied being involved in the incident, despite many in the West believing Vladimir Putin himself may have implicated. British intelligence said it is"highly likely" Prigozhin is dead; The Russian military have reported repeated Ukrainian drone and missile attacks on Russian territory over the course of this week. Earlier we brought you comments from Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko, who said he didn't believe Vladimir Putin would have assassinated Wagner boss Yevgeny Prigozhin. More comments from Mr Lukashenko have been shared by Belarusian state news agency BELTA, which quoted him as saying he had warned Prigozhin of a previous assassination attempt.

It's believed Prigozhin was killed in Wednesday's plane crash - the cause of which is not yet known. "After a month of fierce fighting and significant losses in the Kupiansk and Lyman directions, the enemy is regrouping its forces and means, simultaneously throwing newly formed brigades and divisions from the territory of the Russian Federation," Colonel-General Oleksandr Syrskyi wrote on Telegram.
