This temporary ceasefire was agreed in the last few hours, and Ukraine said it should be in place from 9am to 4pm local time . It was planned to allow for buses to transport civilians from Mariupol and Volnovakha to Zaporizhzhia in south eastern Ukraine.Mariupol city council said:"We are negotiating with the Russian side to confirm the ceasefire along the entire evacuation route."Zelenskyy confirms ceasefire in two Ukrainian cities, but urges those who can to 'stay and fight' Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has confirmed the humanitarian corridors are in place to allow those in Mariupol and Volnovakha to flee.In an address, Mr Zelenskyy said:"We managed to get an agreement to provide assistance to those cities in Ukraine that are in the dire and worst situation, Mariupol and Volnovakha, to save children and women and older people. To provide medication and food to those who stay there in those places. "Those people willing to leave these places should be able to do so now using the humanitarian corridor, but those who can should continue fighting. "We do everything we can on our side to make sure this agreement works, regarding the humanitarian corridors and we will see if we can move even further about our negotiations with Russia." Mr Zelenskyy used his address to directly speak to the US, asking"what more is needed" to convince Joe Biden to implement a no-fly zone. He claimed 74% of Americans agree this is necessary. He also hailed the efforts of Poland, which has accepted more than 600,000 refugees since Russian troops invaded Ukraine on 24 February.Mariupol's deputy mayor Serhiy Orlov says negotiations on the ceasefire - now in place until 4pm local time - went on"through the night". He told the BBC that the city has arranged 50 buses, and he believes up to 6,000 people"can get out by bus to Zaporizhzhia". Additionally, he said others will leave by private car, and between 7,000 and 9,000 people could flee in total. He said:"There are no trains running because railroad infrastructure was destroyed by Russian troops. "We have no guarantee yet from the Russian side that the ceasefire will continue tomorrow. We are working on this now."Haas have terminated their contract with Russian driver Nikita Mazepin, the Formula One team have announced. Additionally, the team has ended its title sponsorship deal with Russian potash producer Uralkali, owned by Mazepin's father. A statement added:"As with the rest of the Formula 1 community, the team is shocked and saddened by the invasion of Ukraine and wishes for a swift and peaceful end to the conflict."The evacuation of a key city in southern Ukraine should now be underway, if all has gone to plan under the city council's timeline. Buses will move people from three locations in Mariupol starting at 11am local time , towards Zaporizhzhia to the east. People are permitted to travel by car, but have been urged to carry extra passengers out of the city and stick to the outlined route.However, Mariupol city council said there will be"several stages" of evacuation over several days.The European Union has joined members of the Council of the Baltic Sea States in suspending Russia and Belarus from the Council's activities. "This decision is a part of the European Union's and like-minded partners response to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and the involvement of Belarus in this unprovoked and unjustified aggression," it said. "The EU agrees with the other members of the CBSS that the suspension of Russia and Belarus will remain in force until it is possible to resume cooperation based on respect for fundamental principles of international law."Moscow has agreed its first ceasefire of the ten-day conflict in Ukraine. Fighting will stop in two southern Ukrainian cities, Mariupol and Volnovakha, for several hours to allow for civilians to flee to the east.Sky News has verified the clip which shows the key port city on Friday morning. It appears to capture Russian helicopters firing down at Mariupol.The Ukrainian armed forces shares regular updates on estimated Russian losses. The latest, for 24 February to 5 March, says approximately 10,000 Russian troops have been killed in the war with Ukraine, far beyond the 498 confirmed by Moscow.
