The drone flew a distance of 932 miles (1,500 kilometers) to hit the target—the country's tenth-largest oil refinery—deep inside Russia.
Ukraine ’s State Security Service has claimed that it carried out a record-distance drone strike against Russia , hitting an oil refinery located almost 746 miles from the border. The drone attack in the Russia n republic of Bashkortostan on Thursday damaged the oil depot but there were no casualties.
“A drone attacked the industrial zone of Salavat city at around 13:00 today, after which there was smoke at one of the installations of Gazprom Neftekhim Salavat,” Bashkortostan head Radiy Khabirov said on Thursday, according toKhabirov clarified that Gazprom Neftekhim Salavat, Russia’s tenth-largest refinery with a capacity of 10 million metric tons of oil per year, was “operating as normal” despite the attack.
Officials have not revealed information as to which drones were involved in the attack and what kind of explosives were used.The drone attack on Krasnodar Krai overnight on May 9 damaged the oil depots. The oil depots situated at the region’s village of Yurovka were being used as transshipment points for fuel supplies for Russian forces based in occupied Crimea.
Moscow says such attacks amount to terrorism and has launched what it says are revenge strikes that have pounded Ukraine’s energy infrastructure since mid-March, raising fears about the resilience of the Ukrainian power system, according to Ukrainian forces have stepped up its drone attacks on oil processing facilities in Russia since the beginning of the year.
