Ukraine 'preparing for nuclear explosion' at power plant; Russia cancels major event over 'security concerns'
Several people injured as Russian shells hit southern Ukraine
In its latest assessment of the war, the Institute for the Study of War said a Russian official claimed its military had repelled Ukrainian forces from their positions near the Antonivsky Bridge on the east bank of the Dnipro river. A deal that halted the mutiny cleared Prigozhin of any criminal charges and gave him a one-way pass to neighbouring Belarus, allowing his men to join him there, be reintegrated into Russia's armed forces or return home.
The site is now being excavated by staff from the National Aviation Museum of Ukraine, with plans to reassemble the aircraft and put them on display. The MoD said the biennial MAKS show is normally"key to securing export customers," but has"probably been cancelled largely due to genuine security concerns".
The Institute for the Study of War said Kyiv's counteroffensive continued"in at least four sectors", citing Russian sources. Ukrainian troops made gains southwest of the town of Velyka Novosilka in the Donetsk region, the US-based think tank reported. "All enemy targets in the airspace around Kyiv were detected and destroyed by the forces and means of our air defence," said Mr Popko. In pictures: Wagner Group logo removed from centre in St PetersburgThe PMC Wagner Centre in the Russian city of St Petersburg is associated with the group's founder Yevgeny Prigozhin.
