The Ukrainian Ambassador to Australia has singled out 'the one reason' behind Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine that left the country unprotected and prone to an attack.
With the 2023 NATO summit ongoing in Lithuania, discussions surrounding the Ukraine war and the nation joining the transatlantic alliance have been extensive.all 31 member countries agreed to endorse a three-part assistance packageThe hesitation to include Ukraine in NATO’s ranks has been pinned on the war, with the organisation fearing the effort would only escalate the conflict further given that NATO would be forced to put forward a defence against Russia in accordance with their charter.
“Russia could invade Ukraine just for one reason – because we did not have any protection,” Mr Myroshnychenko told Sky News Australia’s Laura Jayes. Mr Myroshnychenko backed the President’s heated remarks, saying the disappointment didn’t stem from the NATO bid itself, but from the lack of intent showed by the allied countries – something the Kremlin was using to their advantage.
