In a statement, Ms Babkina told the ABC she was also disappointed, but felt compelled to take the stance that she has. "I've only made … brief research on Susan Abulhawa's statements and that was enough to see they are awfully far from reality and very anti-Ukrainian. Ms Babkina said while she "did not vote for this Ukrainian government myself", she praised its actions in resisting "bloody and violent aggression".
