Stephen Ferris says Ulster 's chastening 53-14 defeat to Clermont in the Challenge Cup is a reminder that there "isn’t a quick fix" to turn things around at Kingspan Stadium.
Ferris admitted he went into the quarter-final with renewed hope following the victory over Montpellier last week. But any hope of extending their run in Europe were blown away at the Stade Marcel Michelin. Nickk Timoney had cross twice for the visitors to leave the score 20-14 at the break, but everything changed in the second half as Clermont ran away with the game. The hosts would add another 33 points without reply to set up a semi-final encounter with the Sharks with Ferris issuing Ulster a stark warning that their season could be over unless they can find some form.
Ulster currently lie in eighth place in the United Rugby Championship with Cardiff set to visit Kingspan this Friday evening.
