Benito Juárez García nació el 21 de marzo de 1806 en San Pablo Guelatao, Oaxaca.
PHOENIX — Hoy se conmemoran 218 años del nacimiento de Benito Juárez García, también conocido en México como el Benemérito de las Américas.
A los 20 años, Benito se fue a estudiar en el Instituto de Ciencias de Oaxaca donde obtuvo su licenciatura en derecho. Su oposición al tratado de Guadalupe-Hidalgo, mediante el cual Estados Unidos se apoderó de gran territorio mexicano, lo llevo a exiliarse en Cuba debido a lo Antonio López de Santa Anna estaba en el poder.Y tras ser derrocado del poder Santa Anna y al estar Juan Álvarez y Comonfort en la presidencia, Juárez regresó al país azteca y fue nombrado ministro de justicia, puesto que mantuvo hasta diciembre de 1855.
Por ley se convirtió en presidente de la República Mexicana en 1858 tras la renuncia de Comonfort, puesto en el cual se mantuvo tras ser elegido.
