The famous family-owned company has tied up an export deal worth hundreds of thousands of US dollars
There's more than 6,000 miles between Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam and Wigan - but distance, it appears, is proving no barrier to taste.
Uncle Joe's, which celebrated its 125th year in 2023, has secured a contract said to be worth hundreds of thousands of US dollars to supply their mint balls to Vietnam. The first order has just been despatched and is now en route. Said to have been on the look out for something different at the convention, the company is an importer and distributor of high-class chocolate and confectionery products from brands in the market, and obviously liked what they licked.Announcing the deal today, Uncle Joe's hailed a 'capable and reputable partner' - and said it believes that success and expansion in the Vietnamese market would be 'rapid and sustainable'.
The scale of the first shipment hasn't been revealed, but company bosses said it was a tough task to complete, indicating a sizable quantity of mint balls are currently on their way to Vietnam. Uncle Joe's Mint Balls are produced by William Santus and Co Ltd, a privately-owned, traditional sweet company with ownership passed down through family generations. Almost a million sweets are made every week at the company's Dorning Street factory, which has been the home of Uncle Joe's for more than a century.
