David Chambers is accused of assisting an offender in connection with the murder of the 26-year-old beautician
The uncle of Elle Edwards' killer has claimed that £4,000 in cash found in his flat was from the sale of a litter of sausage dog puppies.
He is accused of dropping off a Berghaus fleece and a pair of Nike trainers worn by the gunman during the shooting at Dowdall's home on Big Meadow Road in Woodchurch on Christmas Day. He is also said to have arranged Matthews to hire a Volkswagen T-Cross to be used by his nephew when he travelled to Wales before his arrest.
Chambers confirmed this was the case, and when further asked whether he had 'received cash payments for anything around that time' added: "Yes. I’d just had a dog litter. In March, I’d had a dog litter. Sausage dogs, mini Dachshunds, six."
