Grabbing the “ugly” vegetables and shopping early in the morning could save shoppers some pretty pennies on their usual groceries
Money-saving aficionado Kat Saves took to TikTok to share her handy tips on slashing the bill on your usual food shop without having to sacrifice your favourite odds and ends. The influencer revealed how some planning ahead in line with the supermarket’s usual deals can not only make for some healthier meals but also some simple cost-cutting measures.
Similar to the Super 6 tip, the money-saver urged others to use this special as inspiration for their weekly meal plan. One tip that she believes is “honestly a no-brainer” is opting for Aldi’s “wonky veg” range. Despite the name, Kat explained: “Honestly there is nothing wrong with them, they just look a little bit ugly and they are so much cheaper.” She found a prime example of this while doing her food shop as a kilogram of normal carrots was 65p while wonky carrots were going for just 50p.
