Leicester City manager Ruud van Nistelrooy is reportedly eyeing potential signings from Manchester United during the January transfer window.
The January transfer window has been open for a few days, with talk over who could both arrive and leave Old Trafford in the next month rife. United manager Ruben Amorim will be keen to add to his squad, but sales will be needed before purchases due to the Premier League’s Profitability and Sustainability Rules (PSRs). Marcus Rashford is an obvious candidate for one of the players who can leave in the January window, but his wages could be a stumbling block to any sale.
It may mean that United have to rely on selling other players should they wish to add to their squad during the current window. And they could have an option if they wish to raise some funds; Leicester are currently only able to complete permanent deals from United with their two Premier League loan slots taken up. Former striker and assistant manager Ruud van Nistelrooy is looking to strengthen his Leicester City squad as they fight against relegation this season. He has admitted that he could turn to United in search of players. 'Of course, I'm looking at my network, having played in a couple of countries and for more clubs,” he said ahead of the weekend. “It's important to use my network in opportunities to strengthen the squad. 'We're looking at all possibilities to help the team reach its target. We're looking everywhere.' Over the past few weeks, there has been no lack of reports linking United players to a possible reunion with Van Nistelrooy. One of those is defender Victor Lindelof, who is expected to leave the club with his contract expiring in the summer. There were also a few little whispers about a possible move for Harry Maguire. But United triggering an extension in his contract will put an end to any talk around that. Two youngsters have also been linked with a move to Leicester.
