Georginio Rutter lurched from frustration to brilliance for Leeds United and Daniel Farke in last weekend's friendly win over Schalke
From the sublime to the ridiculous might sometimes sum up the scale of Georginio Rutter ’s performances for Leeds United. He returns to Elland Road today for the final friendly of pre-season with his home stadium excited to see the French creator once again.
In front of goal, Rutter became better known for the chances he missed, while his assists were wonderful, but still had the chance to serve up more with a better first touch or, perhaps, not trying so hard. Daniel Farke saw a neat summary of the attacker’s pros and cons last weekend against Schalke. “He’s still a young player and he still needs to learn,” he said. “This game was the perfect example because the first 20, 25 minutes he was not great in the game, lost a few balls and was, perhaps, overdoing a few things too much.
“In the second half, he was, at times, unplayable with some outstanding situations. He showed again how great and instrumental he is for our goals and long may it continue.”
