Police say they are committed to finding the killers of Diane McInally, Karen McGregor, Leona McGovern and Jacqueline Gallagher after Iain Packer was convicted of the 2005 murder of Emma Caldwell last week.
Detectives have stated that the unsolved murders of four Glasgow sex workers found dead in the 1990s will never be closed.Diane McInally, Karen McGregor, Leona McGovern and Jacqueline Gallagher were also found dead but no-one has ever been convicted of their murders. Police Scotland has said it remains committed to catching their killers, the Daily Record reports.
In June 1995 Leona McGovern was throttled and stabbed. The 25-year-old's body was found near the city’s red light district in Anderston in Glasgow.Jaqueline Gallagher's body was discovered near a bus stop in Bowling, West Dunbartonshire, in June 1996. The 26-year-old, of Paisley, had suffered more than 100 injuries.
“Police Scotland’s homicide and governance review team and the Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service work together to review outstanding undetected and unresolved homicides to maximise the ability to deliver justice for grieving families, irrespective of the passage of time.The death of a fifth sex worker, mum-of-three Marjorie Roberts, was also investigated by detectives after her body was found in the River Clyde, near Jamaica Bridge, in August 1995.
