Some people returned numerous items, with one Londoner returning seven parcels in one go.
The first potentially unwanted Christmas present to be returned was at just 7am on Christmas Day.
Payment systems firm PayPoint has analysed when the first parcels were returned across the UK on 25 December. It found that when the first parcel was returned to a Collect+ store in Salisbury at 7.02am, it was still dark outside.A total of 419 parcels were returned on Christmas Day through the Collect+ service at local convenience stores.
