The developer says a 'significant proportion' of the new properties would be affordable homes.
Under the the first stage of the scheme, Shropshire Homes wants full permission to build 102 homes and an 80-bed care home on land off Mytton Oak Road, in Bowbrook.A consultation event in July 2023 attracted 57 residents and a mixed range of responses, which Shropshire Homes says have been taken into account.Bowbrook is a new estate close to the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital. It already features hundreds of homes and a new primary school.
The developer said it wanted to provide "a sensitive, high quality development on the edge of Shrewsbury that is both physically and socially integrated with the town." Shropshire Homes said the scheme would "make a positive contribution towards meeting the needs for affordable and market housing, providing for a mixed and inclusive community".
