Summary Tomb Raider is set to enter a new era and, exciting though recent updates on the Phoebe Waller-Bridge-led Tomb Raider show may be, I'm disappointed that it spells the certain end of Alicia Vikander's version of the iconic character. Vikander took on the starring role in the 2018 Tomb Raider revival, 15 years after Angelina Jolie became the live-action face of the franchise. It was a hard role to inherit, but Vikander earned her place as the next generation's Lara Croft.

The search will be global, meaning that the list need not be limited to British actresses. A canon-typical Croft is stunningly beautiful with an athlete’s physique.
Green’s sequel could have been a refreshing turn for the franchise, allowing its heroine the depth she is so rarely afforded.
