A veteran baseball coach with experience from high school to the Division-I college level, Hulsey will take his detail-oriented approach and experience to Dothan High as the new Wolves head baseball coach.
He takes over at Dothan after the resignation last month of previous coach, Alex Sanford, who guided the Wolves to a 75-62 record over four seasons but finished just 16-18 this past season and failed to make the state playoffs. “I am big on attention to details,” Hulsey said. “That is one of my big things. Everything matters from the way we dress to the way we walk on the field to the way we get off the bus. I think all that will help. Being more disciplined in that mindset can benefit us.”
“We are going to do the fundamentals every single day and we will outwork everybody,” Hulsey said. “We might not be the most talented group on the field, but we are going to put in the work to compete with anybody.” After graduating from Enterprise High School in 2003, Hulsey played under his dad at Enterprise State for two years before playing at Middle Tennessee State for two seasons and earning his bachelor’s degree in education. He then obtained a master’s degree in physical education and coaching at the University of West Alabama.
