JON JOHNSON Taking full responsibility for not meeting high expectations, Alex Sanford resigned as head varsity baseball coach at Dothan High School on Monday.
People are also reading… Sanford has served as head baseball coach of the Wolves since Northview and Dothan consolidated in 2019. Prior to that, he was the head coach at Northview for two years and was an assistant for three years before taking over as the Cougars’ head coach. Since the COVID pandemic wiped out the 2020 season for spring sports, the Wolves’ first season under Sanford was 2021 and the team went 27-11 and made it to the second round of the state playoffs. A year later, Dothan finished 13-17 and last season the Wolves were 19-16.
“Just grateful for the opportunity,” Sanford said. “Dothan has been home for 10 years. It’s been a decade of my life on that campus and I’m grateful for the opportunity and the people who entrusted in me during those years to try to do what I could do.
