It's understood Counter Terror officers are searching for a man
that police are checking everyone’s ID after they’ve already gone through the security hall on Wednesday afternoon.
Huge queues have built up throughout the airport with reports some members of the public are no longer being allowed into the building due to it being 'at capacity'.Commander Dominic Murphy, head of the Met’s Counter Terrorism Command said: “We have a team of officers who are making extensive and urgent enquiries in order to locate and detain Khalife as quickly as possible.
“I also want to reassure the public that we have no information which indicates, nor any reason to believe that Khalife poses a threat to the wider public, but our advice if you do see him is not to approach him and call 999 straight away.”The man on the run, Daniel Abed Khalife, is accused of planting fake bombs at a military base.
He went missing from HMP Wandsworth on Wednesday shortly before 8am, where he was being held awaiting trial for terror offences and alleged breaches of the Official Secrets Act. He has denied all the charges against him.Khalife was last seen wearing a white t-shirt, red and white chequered trousers and brown steel-toe-cap boots, the Metropolitan Police said, and is slim, with short brown hair. He is 6ft 2in.
Daniel Abed Khalife, a 21-year-old serving member of the British Army who is awaiting trial for terror and Official Secrets Act offences, escaped from Wandsworth prison on Wednesday morning, the Metropolitan Police said.
