Slovakia's Prime Minister Robert Fico has been injured in a shooting after a government meeting, according to local reports.
Updates: Slovakia Prime Minister Robert Fico in hospital after shooting; president condemns 'brutal' attackA spokesperson for the Slovak interior ministry has just confirmed that an"assassination attempt" was carried out on Prime Minister Robert Fico.Slovak newspaper Diary N has reportedly spoken with two people who were with Robert Fico when he was shot.
One of them told the newspaper that he was"just going to shake his hand". The other person, a woman, said she became"deaf" when the shots were fired.According to the anonymous woman, she saw Mr Fico drop to the ground in front of her and noticed blood on his chest and head - though she did not specify how serious the injuries were."Clearly this is an assassination attempt," he says.
