An upmarket Nottingham city centre gym has closed after less than a year
in business. Boutique fitness studio TRIB3, which opened its new gym at the corner of Carrington Street and Canal Street in Nottingham city centre on July 18, 2022, is said to have closed on Saturday, July 1.
Customers posted their disappointment on social media over the gym's closure, with a personal trainer who used to work in the gym confirming it had shut down. The Nottingham branch, which was the chain's eighth location in the UK when it opened in 2022, has also been removed from TRIB3's website and no staff have been seen inside the building over the last few days.
It had replaced the B.SPOKE cycle studio which shut in 2021 after opening in 2019. According to TRIB3's website it still operates branches in Manchester, Sheffield and Leeds, as well as abroad in Spain, Finland, and the Netherlands. The short-lived franchise was set up by partners and brothers, Phil and Mike Christofis, creating 15 jobs.
TRIB3 CEO Kevin Yates stated he had "no doubt this store will be a massive success" when the gym opened. But despite what the company described as state-of-the-art facilities and details like DJ curated playlists, lavender scented face towels, and a shake bar and lounge, users have claimed an email explained the gym could not cope with rising costs.
