Shocking images shared online reveal a thriving ecosystem of animals, including sharks and exotic spiders, amidst the abandoned Bear Grylls Adventure in Birmingham. The closure of the adventure park, citing financial challenges and the pandemic's impact, has left a treasure trove of wildlife for urban explorers to uncover.
Urban explorers have made startling discoveries inside the closed-down Bear Grylls Adventure in Birmingham . The photographers documented a range of creatures, including live sharks, exotic spiders, giant cockroaches, and marine life still inhabiting the mothballed venue. The Bear Grylls Adventure , inspired by the renowned TV presenter and explorer, had boasted a 65ft-tall high rope course and a 'shark dive' experience in a large tank.
The site, which closed six weeks ago citing 'commercial challenges' and the lasting financial impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, is currently being prepared for the relocation of its animals. Merlin Entertainments, the company operating the attraction, assured Metro that the animals are receiving 'world class' care as they are moved to new homes. Photos shared on social media by the explorers, including prominent urban explorer Tokyo Matilda, depicted a large spider resembling a tarantula, Madagascar hissing cockroaches, a snake, and exotic sea life in an aquarium. The explorers were able to access various areas, including those containing scuba gear and the main 'basecamp,' where a large Army jeep formed part of the scenery. They described the experience as 'remarkable,' stating they had 'never expected to find it in such conditions.' Merlin Entertainments has acknowledged the 'isolated incident' and confirmed that the animals and their life support systems were unharmed. They are cooperating fully with the West Midlands Police regarding the illegal trespass and emphasized that their dedicated animal care teams continue to provide world-class care for the animals. The company also stated that the building remains an operational facility with animal care staff on site daily to ensure the wellbeing of the animals
