It is 'unsafe to eat' say the Food Standards Agency (FSA)
An urgent recall notice has been issued for jars of Tahini due to the "possible presence of metal." Carley's, who say they are "one of Europe's leading manufacturers of pure organic nut and seed butters, chocolate spreads, chutneys, mustards and pickles" are recalling a batch of their Light Raw Tahini.
They say they are recalling the jars of the Middle Eastern condiment "due to the possible presence of metal in sesame seeds supplied to us" which "makes this product unsafe to eat." The notice has been shared by the regulator the Food Standards Agency . They say: "This product may contain pieces of metal which makes it unsafe to eat."Carley’s is recalling the above product. Point of sale notices will be displayed in all retail stores that are selling this product. These notices explain to customers why the products are being recalled and tell them what to do if they have bought the product.
Any customers who have the 425g jars with the batch code TR4130 and a best before date of 16/12/25, both of which can be found on the lid, are advised not to eat it. Instead they can return it to the store where they bought, with or without a receipt, to receive a full refund.
