The New York Times writes that on Telegram, the encrypted messaging platform, far-right groups have been giving a preview of what could erupt on and after election day. According to the US newspaper, groups supporting Donald Trump have been calling on followers to monitor the polls and be ready to contest the results of tomorrow's vote. “The day is fast approaching when fence sitting will no longer be possible,” read one post from an Ohio branch of the neo-fascist Proud Boys group.
The militant organisation was instrumental in the deadly 6 January 2021 attack on Capitol Hill, during which a mob of Trump supporters stormed the historic building in Washington DC to stop Joe Biden from taking over from then-outgoing president Trump.“You will either stand with the resistance or take a knee and willingly accept the yoke of tyranny and oppression,' the post reads.
