US exports of liquified natural gas surged ahead of both Australia and Qatar in the six months through June amid strong global demand, particularly in Europe.
The United States exported more liquefied natural gas than any other country in the first half of 2023 , according to data from CEDIGAZ, amid strong global demand particularly from Europe.
The EIA also said as in 2022, European countries and the UK remained the main destination for US LNG exports through June, accounting for 67 per cent of total US exports. Europe and the UK’s regasification capacity continued to expand in 2023 as new terminals were placed in service in Finland, Germany, Italy, and Spain, allowing those countries to import more LNG, it also said.
