A man accused of being US fugitive Nicholas Rossi has failed in a motion for bail after allegedly threatening nursing staff.
link today at Glasgow Sheriff Court to answer a charge of threatening or abusive behaviour towards two senior medics at the city's Queen Elizabeth University Hospital. Knight, who is stated to go by various names including Nicholas Rossi, is in custody from the Edinburgh Sheriff Appeal Court where he faces extradition to the USA in relation to an alleged sex attack.
Knight has been stated in court as being a registered sex offender accused of other crimes including fraud and sexual battery. The wheelchair-bound suspect, of the city's Woodlands, was wearing an oxygen mask when he represented himself at today's hearing. Knight stated that his wife has been in contact with 200 to 250 solicitors and will appoint representation tomorrow. Knight said:"I ask to adjourn to allow my QC and solicitor to request a change of date if necessary for them to conduct interviews with witnesses. "Your lordship took my friend's word that I was a risk of absconding and would fail to appear at a hearing."The idea that I will abscond is nonsensical as I can't stand or walk and I will prove that at trial. "It has already been proved by multiple medical professionals in contrary to what the prosecutor has said."Knight stated that prison officers at HMP Edinburgh refer to him as"Nicholas","Rossi" or"Mr Rossi."The sheriff said:"In the circumstances, nothing you have said in any way convinces me to believe bail is appropriate and you will be remanded in custody for your trial date."
