US political campaign group Avaaz has accused Lord Advocate Dorothy Bain of failing to respond to calls for the President Elect's golf courses to face an Unexplained Wealth Order.
Scotland's most senior prosecutor has failed to respond to a letter from American lawyers demanding an investigation into the financing of Donald Trump ’s Scottish golf courses.
Nick Flynn, Legal Director at Avaaz, said: “Trump may escape justice in the US by pardoning himself, but he can’t pull the same trick in Scotland. His course on the Menie Estate in Balmedie near Aberdeen lost £1.4million in the period up to December 31 last year - despite a £4.8million loan from his company, DJT Holdings. He is registered as a “person with significant control”.Greens co-leader Patrick Harvie said: “Donald Trump is a racist, misogynistic demagogue, with a long history of controversy and questionable deals. Unfortunately, he also is one of the most powerful and influential people in the world.
“With Donald Trump on the verge of re-entering the White House, it is more pressing than ever that the Scottish Government acts, and that they use an Unexplained Wealth Order to investigate his investments here in Scotland.
