The flight from equities resumed after a remarkable turnaround on Monday evening which lifted the main US indices into positive territory.By mid-morning in New York today, however, the broadly-based S&P 500 was down 1.8 per cent, or 80 points, at 4,329.83, and the technology-focused Nasdaq had fallen 2.5 per cent, or 343 points, to 13,511.70. The Dow Jones industrial average had dropped 1.4 per cent, or 486 points, to 33,878.26.
