US markets are on course to close at their highest level ever after stocks were boosted in New York by strong corporate earnings from Twitter, Coca-Cola and Hasbro.
Tech stocks led markets in the US higher after Twitter kicked off this week;'s batch of earnings from Silicon Valley with expectations-beating results, reporting a jump in revenue and daily users. Its shares leapt as much as 18pc while toy giant Hasbro surged 17pc after unexpectedly posting a first quarter profit. The S;&P 500, Wall Street;'s benchmark stock index, gained 1pc to edge ahead of its previous record close of 2,930.75 points.
