US believes its powerful naval fleet will act as a deterrent to Iran escalating the war following any Israeli ground offensive against Hamas
The US aircraft carrier USS Dwight D. Eisenhower is powering its way along with its fleet to the Gulf before it has placed a powerful naval fleet in the Gulf as a precaution against any backlash from pro-Hamas nations,A security source in Washington said that the USS Dwight D. Eisenhower aircraft carrier is sailing to the Gulf of Oman in order to act as a deterrent against any retaliatory response from Middle Eastern states such as Iran if the Israeli Defense Force invades Gaza.
Justin Crump, chief executive of security and intelligence group Sibylline, added: “The US wants a bit more time to get its pieces on the board to try and mitigate any escalation from an Israeli ground assault on Gaza. A former senior official in Israel’s Mossad foreign intelligence service said Hamas will have prepared in-depth for an IDF ground invasion and is likely to be “surprised” that an Israeli operation has not yet taken place.
