The captain of the USA women's Football side has applauded New Zealand for it's 'commitment to gender equality and women's rights' in an open letter to the nation.

Becky Sauerbrunn is preparing to lead the defending champions at the 2023 World Cup as she expressed her “gratitude” to the countries for hosting the tournament.

The US won the past two World Cups and finished in the top three in every tournament since the first in 1991, making it the most successful women’s footballing nation. “Our game has provided them with a platform to express their creativity, develop their skills and forge lasting friendships.
