Usain Bolt was unbeatable at the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
Back in 2008, China were the host of themanaged to put himself in athletics history as he broke two world records in the 100m and 200m sprints.Bolt stormed to the gold medal in the 100m when he clocked a time of 9.69 seconds. The Jamaican then backed that up with a brilliant run of 19.30 seconds in the 200m.
Writing in his autobiography ‘The Fastest Man Alive’, Bolt revealed the only meal he ate during his time at the Beijing Olympics.“They were the only food I could properly trust which wouldn’t affect my stomach. On arriving at the training camp I’d tried a local Chinese meal, which wasn’t like the ones we we eat in the West, and my body didn’t react well.”
Bolt continued: “So, knowing I could rely on nuggets, i made up my mind that was all I would eat. And eat them I did, for breakfast, lunch and dinner, washed down with bottled water.”In another autobiography ‘Faster than Lightning’, Bolt revealed that he tried different foods when he returned to Beijing again for the 2015 World Championships.“They really are providing a lot better food here than in 2008, so no chicken nuggets for me this year.
At the 2024 Paris Olympic Games, Bolt’s world records remained unmatched as Noah Lyles won the 100m before Letsile Tebogo clinched gold in the 200m.Featured Image Credit: Getty
