Megan Rapinoe has been through plenty of World Cup prep through her years with the USWNT, so her viewpoint on the particular benefits of this edition of SheBelieves Cup seems more instructive than most. As much as there's plenty of distress around recent results for the USWNT, a massive challenge is exactly what she wants out of this tournament, and at this point in their preparation.
"SheBelieves is always where we get punched in the face, so it's exactly what you need at this time. It's a good barometer, always, for where we are leading into the World Cup," Rapinoe told. "It's always been a tournament that's challenged us, and specifically, to have the three different styles is great. It gives is more to think about rather than kind of the same vibe all of the time — it gets a little easy.
