Days after the city released a vast trove of emails, videos and other information about the 2022 Robb Elementary School shooting, Uvalde officials have admitted the disclosure fell short of what was required under a legal settlement with news organizations.
Did Uvalde police lack courage to confront shooter or the right equipment? The belatedly discovered videos will not be released immediately. Officials said they had given them to Uvalde County District Attorney Christina Mitchell so she could determine whether they were relevant to her office's criminal investigation into the shooting. The city said it will 'evaluate' whether those videos and anything else that was withheld must be disclosed under terms of the legal settlement.
Grand jury indicts former Uvalde school police chief and ex-officer The San Antonio Express-News, the Houston Chronicle and numerous other news organizations sued the city, the Uvalde Consolidated Independent School District and the Uvalde County Sheriff's Office seeking bodycam footage, radio communications, texts, emails and other records that would shed light on the police response to the May 24, 2022, massacre, in which 19 fourth graders and two teachers were shot dead.
