Valley freeway closures planned on I-10, I-17 and Loop 101 during May 31 weekend

State Route 89A, A busy highway north of Sedona, is expected to close for rockfall mitigation. Here's what you need to know.

PHOENIX — Drivers in the Valley will need to navigate around three different freeway closures for the weekend of May 31 – June 3, according to the Arizona Dept. of Transportation. The Arizona Dept. of Transportation is recommending drivers plan for extra travel time and consider detour routes while the restrictions are in effect: for pavement improvement work.

Consider traveling before the closure begins late Friday night. Please note that traffic is lighter during early morning and late evening.Southbound I-17 drivers should follow the posted detour route on westbound Loop 303 to southbound Lake Pleasant Parkway and eastbound Happy Valley Road to return to I-17. for work on the I-10 Broadway Curve Improvement Project.Consider using eastbound US 60 to northbound Loop 101 and westbound Loop 202 to reach SR 143 or I-10 beyond the closure.
