Virgil van Dijk showed his class following Liverpool’s FA Cup win over Shrewsbury on Sunday by going into the away side’s dressing room and speaking to the players.but were in trouble after half an hour when Daniel Udoh gave the away side a shock lead.And Udoh is understood to have been given Van Dijk’s shirt afterwards2-1 up with a penalty. Second-half goals from Roberto Firmino and a second from Fabinho sealed their place in the fourth round.
“Virgil van Dijk came in our dressing room afterwards, congratulated everyone, said well done, brought his shirt in, shook hands and I thought that was absolutely top, top drawer,” Shrews boss Steve Cotterill said. Meanwhile, Shrewsbury defender Elliott Bennett tweeted: “Classy on and off the pitch. Rolls Royce of a player and without doubt the world’s best centre-back. Touch if class coming in to see the boys and give our goal scoring hero his shirt!
