Michael van Gerwen reached the 2025 World Darts Championship final with a dominant 6-1 victory over Chris Dobey. During his post-match interview, he made a slip-up, leading to an apology from both the player and the Sky Sports presenter.
Sky Sports Darts released an apology during Michael van Gerwen's post-match interview following his 6-1 win over Chris Dobey . 'The Green Machine' averaged over 98 in the victory to book his place in the 2025 World Darts Championship final. Speaking to Sky's Abigail Davies after the win, he said: 'I can be happy with the performance. Of course, I wasn't playing as explosive as I was in the last game, but I was efficient.'I'm here with a mission, with a target.
This part of it will always have ups and downs, but today I showed, I think, a lot of mentality. Even when things were not going my way I was still able to do good stuff at good moments. 'To win on this stage, in a semi-final, means a lot to me. But what I always say - we are not even close yet. I still have to battle tomorrow, it's going to be another day. And the title's still far away. I don't want to make mistakes. The Sky presenter quickly apologised for the language - with MVG himself apologising after laughing at what he'd done - before the Dutchman was asked about the other semi-final between Luke Littler and Stephen Bunting, which takes place later tonight. He continued: 'It's going to be an incredible final anyway. The crowd here are loving it, the people at home are loving it, so what more do you want?Van Gerwen will be looking to win his fourth World Championship at Alexandra Palace, having not lifted the Sid Waddell Trophy since 2019. Littler experienced playing in a PDC World Championship final last year when he lost 7-4 to Luke Humphries, while Bunting won the BDO world title in 2014 before moving across to the PDC.
