The vandals tore apart planters, broke wooden benches, damaged a ladder and ripped out hoses that were used for an irrigation system at Global Family Elementary School.

The garden was created, in part, by KABOOM! and the Curry’s Eat. Learn. Play. Foundation, the school district said. It had been added as part of a major renovation project during the 2022-23 school year, which also included the creation of a new playground and sports court. “It only served to hurt the students and staff at the school,” OUSD’s release said. “We ask that whoever was responsible come forward and admit what they did, and then find some other more healthy ways to channel their anger and frustration.
