Zhanna D'Art ate a diet mainly comprising of fruits, sunflower seed sprouts, fruit smoothies, and vegetable juices.
Zhanna Samsonova, better known as Zhanna D'Art on social media garnered a considerable following by living on an 'extreme' diet of exotic fruits and raw plant-based foods. Tragically, her relentless commitment to this diet ultimately led to her death, sparking both concern and controversy among her followers.
On July 21 Zhanna passed away in Malaysia. Her mother, Vera Samsonova, disclosed to the Russian newspaper Vechernyaya Kazan that her daughter succumbed to a cholera-like infection, which was exacerbated by her extreme restrictive eating habits. The official cause of her death is still pending as her family faces bureaucratic hurdles to bring her body back to Russia.
“Despite the fact that I cook fancy raw dishes, I eat very simply myself. My food is simple, no oil, no salt, no dehydrated food and no protein,” Zhanna wrote in a post. “Today for lunch I have delicious avocado kefir, sweet cherry tomatoes and ripe avocado. Bon appetit.”
