Nottingham City Council will be introducing fully plant-based catering at internal meetings and appointing a 'peace champion'
It's a critical time for Nottingham City Council. The new leader and chief executive have both signalled in recent months that further cuts will be "inevitable" in Nottingham.
The Labour group of councillors controlling the city council passed a motion at a recent meeting agreeing to appoint a "peace champion." The role will be carried out by an elected councillor and their role will simply be to "promote peace." It's a move that has displeased some of the more carnivorously-inclined councillors, some of whom are still reeling from not even being provided with a cup of tea during a mammoth eight-hour budget meeting in March. Ultimately, I'm not particularly concerned whether councillors are being fed turkey or tofu.
