BREAKING: 'Vehicle fire' on Manchester motorway with queues building
Motorists are facing delays on the M56 this afternoon following reports of a vehicle fire.
Traffic is building on the eastbound carriageway at J6 A538 Wilmslow Road . Two lanes are currently closed. Images from National Highways show queues forming close to Manchester Airport. A vehicle is 'well alight' on the hard shoulder, according to online traffic reporting system Inrix.Greater Manchester Police and Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service have been contacted for more information.
