Max Verstappen and Lando Norris are set to make up the front row of the British Grand Prix as the Red Bull driver secured pole. What does mwc13_3 make of the results? One word: Wow. More ⤵️
There honestly wasn’t a reason to bet against Verstappen snagging pole position. Even with a bandaged hand and hitting the pit lane wall , the Red Bull driver continues to record impressive lap times. The injury, though, isn’t something to be concerned about it seems. Verstappen said, “It looks a bit interesting, right? Just a hand injury. Injured my finger and my hand at the same time. But it’s fine. When I’m driving, it’s OK.
The question is did anyone bet McLaren would be in the top 5 this weekend? Norris and Piastri went from decent practice sessions, running around the same positions during FP1 that they had been in previous races, to a P2 and P3 start for Sunday’s grand prix. McLaren brought upgrades for Norris’ car in Austria, and he majorly bounced back, ending the day fourth. Fast-forward to Silverstone, Piastri’s car now has the upgrades.
The car is quicker, no doubt, but both McLaren drivers said some of the weaknesses still persist. Piastri said, “As Lando said, the car doesn’t feel too much different, and I think we still have some weaknesses we want to address. But overall, it’s faster. And if I was to choose a car that feels great or a car that goes fast, I would choose one that goes fast and worry about the handling later.”
Remember asking about the panic button earlier this season? It’s looking like fans can start putting those away if McLaren can continue this upward progression.
