Brussels reveals the UK 'does not wish to commit formally to continuing to apply' the European Convention on Human RIghts.
It has previously been suggested that the UK is looking to leave the door open to breaking away from the ECHR during Brexit talks.
He added on his blog:"Bear in mind most people probably think we're already leaving it because of the 2016 referendum, so imagine how mad they'll be when they realise we're still in it." A government spokesperson said:"The UK is committed to the European Convention on Human Rights and to protecting human rights and championing them at home and abroad, but we believe that this does not require an additional binding international legal commitment.
